Name these lenses!

Hey all,

I won an auction of a batch of unamed k mount lenses. I expect them to ship my way early in the week. In the meantime I have been having fun speculating on what lenses inhave coming. The only info I have is that they are various manufacturers. Any guesses based on this really low resolution photo? Lets see who gets some right. I will post the haul when it arrives.

Chris

I see the takumar (bayonet) 135 and 70-200, a JCPenney 80-200, what looks like a Sigma 80-200, another 80-200, a third-party K 135, a third-party A 135, and a 50mm f2 or so from not-Pentax...

But that’s easy 🙂

I see lots of fun ahead.

For a moment I thought the second lens from the left at the front was the K28/2.0, and my heart skipped a beat. Looking closer, I think the focus ring is a couple of rubber lugs too short....

Might it be the K105/2.8??

The left-most lens looks very much like a Rikenon 50mm f/2 to me. Relatively inexpensive, but an absolute cracker of a lens!

Back row second one from left looks odd to me. It will be fun to see what I end up with.

I second that - and dare to try and be a bit more specific in my guess.

Rear (left to right):
  • MC Soligor C/D Zoom+Macro 80-200mm 1:4.5
  • Sigma Zoom-κ II 1:4.5 f=70-210mm Multi-Coated
  • Ambiguous:
    • 1:2.8 f=135mm JC Penney Coated Optics 624-4296
    • Auto Sears MC 1:2.8 f=135mm 202.737370
    • Albinar ADG Coated Optics 1:2.8 f=135mm
    • Any of these dozens of re-brandings of the presumably Samyang made 135/2.8
Front (left to right):
  • 1:2.0 50mm Auto Sears (Apart from the inscription on the front ring identical to the Ricoh Rikenon 1:2 50mm)
  • Takumar (Bayonet) 1:2.5 135mm (Made in Japan version)
  • Focal MC Auto 1:2.8 135mm
  • Takumar Bayonet Zoom 1:4.5 80~200mm
  • JC Penney Multi-Coated Optics 1:4.5 f=80-200mm (Version with focal length scale right on barrel, macro scale left on barrel)

Now I am waiting for the answer impatiently ;-)

It takes a brave man to buy a bunch of stuff like this based on so little information. I had the opportunity to bid on something similar but the seller did not even know what lens mounts were in his box of junk collectible lenses. I passed on the offer.

I hope this works out well. There seems to be a few good primes in there.

Brave is much nicer than the term my wife would suggest

The Auto Sears F2/Rikenon F2 is actually a fun manual lens and is a pretty sharp lens if in good shape. They can all be fun if you let them. If they are duds, just practice taking them apart or something!

I did the same thing last week. Only 1 out of 6 lenses was identifiable from the photos. What I did know was that there was a K-1000 and a Spotmatic (which turned out to be a II) in the mix plus I could see that there were some old leather lens cases and Takumar-style hoods in the photo. In the end what I got was:

Rexagon Wide Angle 28/2.8
SMC Tak 35/3.5 + orig. caps, case, and hood
Super Tak 50/1.4 + caps
SMC 50/2 + Caps
Tak Bayonet 135/2.5 + Case
SMC Tak 135/3.5 + orig caps and case
APS Auto Teleplus 2x - M42 + orig caps and case

Sometimes these gambles can be fun. Although in the past I have gotten a bunch of moldy lenses that I ended up putting in the dumpster....

Reminds me of an ancient television show called, "Romper Room", a show for little kids with a set looking like a kindergarten schoolroom. The hostess, always "Miss" so-and-so, would look through her "magic mirror" and say that she "saw" all the little kids watching by TV, "I see Billy, and I see Janie, and I see Henry, and I see Christine, ...".

Sometimes the photos are so bad you are doing just that. Other times there are hints that you have to search for in the photos that can give you some hope. I rolled the dice on the one I listed above because I had a hunch that it was from one photographer (probably deceased) and would represent a range of lenses. This time I was right.
