Sigma 1.4 TC DG vs non DG version

Hi
I own sigma 300 2.8 non DG version and I Want to buy TC.
Is there any diferences beetwen two versions?
I Think the non dg will match my lens perfect but may be DG is better.
I have a chance to buy a non dg for a fair price.
What to do?
thanks in advance and sorry bad English

Yes.
My lens is a sigma 300 2.8 non DG, wich is the best one for this lens?

Non DG pros is that this tc is exactly for this lens, same age and tecnology and cheaper
DG pros are better coating and flare resitence in theory.

I would know if there is any diferences as autofocus speed and accuracy.

Thanks

Truly it is very hard to tell without testing. As you say, the older one was designed with the older lens in mind.

I have both. I could test on the A*300mm 2.8 lens for you to see if there is any difference - today I have not used either on that lens.

what camera?

Crops of the Sigma AF 1.4x and Sigma APO 1.4x EX at f2.8

---------- Post added 17-11-18 at 05:04 PM ----------

There is almost no difference between the TCs. With these results I would go for the cheaper option.

Clarification Needed

My apologies to all. I have NOT tested the DG version. Rather, I have tested the following

Sigma EX 1.4x TC

SIGMA APO 1.4x EX Teleconverter Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Sigma AF 1.4x TC

Sigma X1.4 Tele Converter AF Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Without testing the DG version I would not recommend for the K1 as it might be designed for APS-C (if so it could vignette - but others need to add their experience here)

I have edited prior posts to reflect this error - apologies

sigma nomenclature
lets be pragmatic about it. in the film era all sigma lenses were full frame, they had to be. the top of the line was the EX series.
when DSLRs first came out, you still bought a film lens because the "digital coatings" were still some time off. so when i bought the Sigma 70-200/2,8 EX and the Sigma 1.4x EX teleconverter this is how the optics were marked.

about 2 years later sigma came out with not only DC lenses for cropped sensors, but also DG lenses, which were full frame lenses with digital coatings. many of their first series were simply the same film lenses with digital coatings.

so what are digital coatings, specially they include coated rear elements to prevent reflections and clouding (reduced contrast) from incident light bouncing off the filter in front of the sensor, which is much more reflective than the emulsion side of film. non digital lenses sometimes have very low contrast when shot on a DSLR or a hazy low contrast donut in the middle of the frame

with the sigma 70-200/2.8 EX (non DG) or with the 1.4 x teleconverter i have never had an issue indicating that sensor reflection was systemic issue with either the lens or the TC

if you are going to purchase a TC today, there is no option for a new TC, you only get the digital one because the standard one went out of production about 14 years ago, but it wont make any noticeable difference in my opinion
