Irix 11mm

Since I am quite charmed by the reviews of the Irix 11 mm and I am looking for such a lens I was wondering whether we might expect such a lens from Pentax ?
I have seen an Ultra wide angle on the roadmap, but is it likely to be available in the nearby future ?
If that is the case I might wait for it if not I would by the Irix now.

Anybody any clue ?

Thx,

André

No one outside of Ricoh/Pentax has any real information but it is unlikely that such a lens will be seen any time soon. They still have to release the promised 11-18 which was originally scheduled for spring 2018. Most people expect the DFA 70-200 f4 adn DFA 85 f1.4 to be the next lenses released. Pentax sometimes surprised us but if you want 11mm anytime soon you may want to go with the Irix.

Depends on whether or not you need full-frame coverage. Assuming you do, then the release date of the 11-18mm (which is early next year AFAIK) is a moot point.

There is a fisheye roadmapped, but that's also a bit of a different lens.

I'd go with the Irix if that's what you need right now.

The Laowa 12mm f/2.8 is another option. A stop faster and with better distortion control than both the Irix 11mm and the Pentax DFA 15-30 at 15mm.

However, having said that, I can't imagine ever really needing wider than 15mm on FF.

I thought the same before testing the two Irix, the Laowa 12mm, and the Pentax 15-30mm.

Well, to be accurate, I don't NEED wider. But it certainly is fun!

I could go for the 15-30 indeed.
