135-600mm vs 300mm f4

If you want something vintage that does not require a forklift, there's always this:
Tele-Takumar 300mm F6.3 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Telephoto Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

The tripod mount is a pain as it bumps the prism of some DSLRs, but it is tiny for its FL.
It is also surprisingly free of purple fringing for a lens of its vintage (at it has a nice, dedicated hood)

And it is great fun if you happen to have a Spotmatic lying around...

Yes, there is that - my 150-450 feels svelt compared to the 500.

I justify having a large quantity of vintage M42 glass by rationalizing that not only can I use it on my K-1 and K3II, but it also opens up my choices when I grab one of the Spotmatics or SV.
