Just quietly, buy 'em second hand, and as MountainVision points out you could shoot all day with them on a K-1 too, in full frame mode. Dirty little secret.

Thanks, mate, yes, it's really a photo of left vs right, blue vs yellow, she has to be looking to the blue instead of us for it to work. I was shooting into the sun, using flash for fill, there's contrast veil happening, I haven't even removed the flare spots in post, just left them there.I do love the dog photo with the DA70, too, it's candid street photography, it's a different thang.
Agree with every word. A flare-ectomy would have been barbarous. :-)

That cool and warm balance point is interesting. It works beautifully here. Adam Marelli (Are You Expressing Your Creativity or Just Pressing Buttons? | Adam Marelli | B&H Explora) argued that if there isn't some touch of cool in a warm image, or vice versa, you might be better to make it monochrome. I wouldn't go that far but it was a good way to draw attention to the importance of colour balance. I've been looking for it more consciously myself since.

Love the HeHo too.

Apologies to Dewman for the digression. But, hey, you have to be sold on the 70 now anyway?

Yep its great little lens.

Works reasonably well on K-1 too - wide open corners are not so great but otherwise quite usable.

Gee, that's an interesting idea, Des. It would have to make sense too by the elements in the picture, you know, which was which, dominant or secondary. Must look for an opportunity in the future to make it happen by composition, or just put a small bit of cool or warm artificially into an otherwise harmonious image in post processing. Either way works for me.

And yes, that may involve my criminally underrated DA70 Ltd, who knows?

I came across this lens while browsing the Internet. I don't recall ever having heard mention of it before. On an ASPC format, it would be the equivalent of the older M-105mm lens of years ago.

I can find interesting landscapes in my own library, so of course I'm only interested in the lovely "bits" in LeRolls' work.

At one point it was the sharpest Pentax lens out there.

For people who go on about edge to edge sharpness, if they don't own this lens I don't take them very seriously. It's affordable and it's excellent.

His landscape work is so good it makes me jealous! Well worth looking at.
