New to me DAL 18-55mm WR lens not communicating EXIF to camera

EXIF doesn't show which lens is used, only shows what focal length. I tried cleaning the contacts. Is this lens a plastic mount? I just bought this lens last month from KEH.

Is your software stripping it out or simply not registering it because it predates the lens ?

Take a jpeg in camera, dont process it, simply load to your computer and post on here

whatever Software simply might not know the Lens ID. It's encoded data, not clear text.

It's not the software because it reads all lenses manufactured in the same year as this one. No problems prior to this one lens with my other 18-55mm DA L ll or the 50-200mm WR but both of those had metal mounts.

Software is Photoshop Elements 15, and FastStone Image viewer 6.3, data transferred to flickr isn't being seen. Neither program is showing correct EXIF of lens, all it shows is 18mm was used. I'm using a K-30 with this lens and still have never had this problem with any metal mount lens I've owned.

Again, I'll reiterate, it's not the software stripping the data.

What does EXIFTOOL report for Lens Type and for Lens ID? Are they empty?

What Paul said !

If the camera isn't writing lens data in the EXIF it's simply because the camera doesn't know what the lens is, this could be a fault with the lens.
If the software doesn't report the lens it's because the software doesn't know what the lens is or the data isn't in the image file.
Have you tried loading an image straight from the camera into the Pentax software?
In my experience, not all software will interpret the EXIF data completely or correctly. I have some lenses that are recognised by one package and not by another.
It might be a good idea to upload an image here straight from the camera and let others examine it first hand. An unmodified low resolution shot (small pixel count) of something innocuous will serve perfectly well and won't impinge on your allocation by very much.

As you see, the camera is reading the lens, so it's not the camera at fault. But I never thought it would be my software because it doesn't do that with any other lens I have, and the 50-200mm was introduced the same year as this one and it has never stripped the EXIF from it either.

Here's an example taken with the 50-200mm WR using the same process .DNG to .JPEG and software, Photoshop Elements 15, and EXIF is intact on this photo, but as I said, this lens has a metal mount:

It appears to me that Adobe Camera Raw does not recognise that lens. Perhaps you could create a custom profile for it in the lens corrections section of Camera Raw. It may then recognise and report it on subsequent raw conversions.

I don't know which camera raw I have, but i do have Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 I could install on here instead of using this older version. I checked updates on this one and it said it was up to date. The Raw is integrated into elements and checking updates it states, Elements is updated to 2016.

After downloading and installing latest Camera Raw, it still isn't showing lens data after converting .dng.
