Originally posted by niblue I've never really found 40mm to be that useful a focal length myself. I used to have one of the little SMC-M 40mm pancake lenses and while it was a lovely thing mounted on an MX it never really got much use so I sold it.
I actually have ended up with both the SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited and the SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS the " best lens in its class "
I use the XS when I don't want to be burdened with that big bulky Limited
and I love to bring them both out when I show kids the HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW and HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW
I explain the big lenses are examples of zoom lenses and the 40s are examples of primes lenses
