Wouldn't it make sense for Pentax to make the simple factory modification to the DA*60-250 f4 and re-label it as a DFA*60-250? You would think this might speed up development of some of the other lenses that are sorely needed.
I would say the Internal Focusing and Internal Zooming would be big plus compared to the 60-250.
Maybe a faster motor too.
And that's invisible to us, but important for the Pentax industry : unified lenses production with lots of common parts.

The 35/1.4 and the 1.4x TC would be very welcome !

The fish eye lens is missing from the FF lineup. The DA 10-17 is going to be tough to beat but for now it suffices as a crop lens.
APS-C replacement would be exciting, and the 85/1.4 would be a high end bonus for the lens portfolio.

I think the reason they aren't doing that is because the 70-200 will need to make money at a lower price than the 60-250 has gone for in the past.
And I don't think they can make the 60-250 at that margin.

That would imply cheaper construction, but hopefully they've learned some things in the past few years to make it a better lens despite that.
Though I'm not expecting a * designation, either...

I hope they do not go the folly cheap route.

The average initial market price for OEM (FF) 70-200/4 was about 1,400 EUR in recent years and that would be already substantially cheaper than the 2.8 version started at. So that would be a fair attractive price.

The DA* was always a bit below that.

Right now, the DFA 70-200 F2.8 is $1,500 at B&H (exc sales tax).

I canít imagine Ricoh would price them that close, especially if the f4 doesnít come with a * on it...

Exactly, that and an available upgrade of the existing DA*60-250s. What they are thinking here is difficult, especially since right on the patent the DA* 60-250 is described as an FF lens.

On the con side, the DA*60-250 is notoriously slow focussing. An ƒ4 70-200 with a ring motor or PLM motor and much faster AF may be what they are going for. My opinion being that current Pentax AF is limited only by the speed of focusing of the lenses you put on the cameras. The 55-300 PLM being proof of concept.

DA* 11-18 by far. The only thing I could ever be more excited for atm is a K-02.

The DFA 18 is the only one that interests me (and even that only slightly) but that's because I saved a lot of FF kit so have most of that covered. I'd certainly like a 35mm F1.4 but doubt I'd use it enough to warrant the cost.

The main thing I'd be interested in is a longer zoom or prime - perhaps a 200-400 F4-5.6 or an AF 400mm F5.6 - that was reasonably priced. Something like the old Tokina ATX 80-400 would be good.

But pleeeease, with an EVF.

However, if/when Pentax does return to mirrorless, will it be APS-C or FF? I doubt both. And will they continue to flog a dead horse by designing it to use SLR lenses (without adapter)?

I don't think the K-01 is even that thick. If they could keep similar dimensions in an FF body they'd be in good shape.

Compare camera dimensions side by side

I think it's kind of a boon to not have to make a new lens line

To date, we are pushing close to 40% for APS-c flagship. Can we make it a majority? Tell your friends to vote.

I'm surprised there's a much interest as shown by current vote tallies for a D-FA 35. Between the FA 31 and FA 35 as well as the Sigma 35 Art (until that lens becomes unavailable...) I think we're covered there.

D-FA 18 sounds very interesting even though I'm not remotely in the market for one.

EDIT: A FF K-02 with an EVF with some different focus peaking options would be right up my street.

I was in the market for a 20 or 24, and made up for them not being available by buying the Samyang 14 2.8. An 18 would be a little wider than I wanted, but might be right up my alley. Lens that exists is always better than one that doesn't.

An M 20 f4 should be in my hands within the week. I very much agree that lenses you can hold are better than ones you cannot. I like lenses that are smaller than the Sy 14 although maybe I'm just lazy.
