I've just come from the JB-hifi Discount Camera store in Elizabeth Street Melbourne (next door to Michael's; not the bigger general JB store a few doors further south). They have a NEW Pentax DA* 50-135 SDM AW for sale with ticket price $487. However, they are actually having a further 50% sale on that, so it's $243.50! The Pentax web-store price is $1299.

It's amongst assorted sale lenses near the stairs at the back of the shop.

I was of course tempted by the price, but the 50-135 is just not a lens I need. Rather than buy it at a steal and have it sit on my shelf unused, I would rather some keen PF member snapped it up.

P.S.: I could have bought it just to sell at a huge profit, but that didn't seem honourable.

Yep. No other Pentax that I saw, but I think there was a Sigma in K-mount; can't remember what.

Michael's next door have a good looking used DA* 55 for (I think) $699.

Hey Paul, thanks for the heads up mate. I rang them ( I can't get in before Sunday ) but have said I will ring them again Sunday morning, if it is still there, I will take in my trusty K-3 and take it for a spin. Don't like my chances of it still being there at that price though.

As a complication, it's 33 degrees in my suburb at the moment. This agent of yours might have to drink $50 of Gatorade to complete his mission.

A funny story associated with this. After seeing the lens in JB, I went next door to Michaels (probably the biggest camera store in Melbourne) to check out their current stock. They often have used Pentax equipment, but nothing new. Tons of Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc though of course.

Anyway, a salesman jumped on me immediately and started bragging about their huge selection of gear. I told him I shot Pentax and he almost choked. "Oh, I think we might have one Pentax lens somewhere". "Hmm", I said, "I think I have a much bigger selection than you do" (see my signature below). He had to agree.
