Good choice Sharky. The HD DA 35mm Macro was the lens I bought with my first DSLR. The K-50. Besides macro it's a great all around lens. Now start saving for the D FA 100mm Macro WR.

that is a very good lens as is the earlier versions - D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro, FA 100mm F2.8 and F 100mm F2.8 macro - which might be available for less $

" Specifications

The lens covers the full 24x36mm format, not just APS-C. The aperture blades are rounded, delivering a smoother bokeh which is important for a macro lens. However, unlike its predecessor, it has no aperture ring.

The optical design is the tried-and-proven formula of the previous generation D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro lens, which in turn had inherited the optical design from the well-respected FA 100mm F2.8 and F 100mm F2.8 macro lenses introduced in 1991 and 1987, respectively. None of these earlier lenses had rounded aperture blades. . . .

Okay group, having a gas attack! I am shooting w/k-70 and I currently have 2 lenses 18-135, and 55-300 mm lenses.
I would like to get a lens for MACRO & was thinking about DA 35 Ltd Macro but was concerned about "subject distance" so I am ASKING FOR ADVICE! Please keep it short I don't want to be overwhelmed.
So group I bit the bullet and ordered the HD DA 35ltd. Macro from B&H price I thought was good as it was $107.00 off at $389.00!

Well today it is $117.00 off at $379.00 B&H photo was great they agreed to give me todays price on my order from yesterday and I am a happy camper, can't wait for it to get here!

Thanks!
I didn't think to measure it but give or take an inch about 6" to the front element. Camera set on "scene mode" Macro.

Another sample here!

I am really surprised no one has said anything about the Takumar 50mm and 100mm MACRO lenses. They do such a phenomenal job with Macro work. Even more so when you add them to a bellows or extension tubes.

I might suggest the M100/4 as well, more common and decently affordable too. I have used it on my bellows sometimes.

I have a K-70 and both the 35mm macro ltd and the 100mm macro WR. I use the 100mm for all my macro shots. Both are great lenses.

To all the members who helped me spend my money, I thank you here is the result, I hope to get years of enjoyment out of this lens!

I recently bought a used copy of the DA35 2.8.
I have been considering this lens fkr a long while deciding if i needed a longer lens or not.
I have the M100/4 macro which is good but 1:2.
I decided on the DA35 as a general purpose lens.
Very happy.
