Whoa..this is the 1st time I saw multiple hollywood lenses on sale on ebay. All from Japan sellers. There are 5 of them on sale at the same time. Why are their owners getting rid of them?

Time to cash in on an investment? The price asked is very high; however, it is hard to value this lens on a supply - demand basis (here I note no real modern alternative to this focal length/ aperture).

I would have thought a grand is about even money for a good copy.

For those money you can buy two Limiteds - 31 and 77. Two best lenses according to pentaxians survey.

yes you can. The FA31 and K28/2 have their strengths. The K28/2 has amazing sharpness and micro contrast at f16 where almost all other competitor lenses suffer from diffraction. The close focusing of the K28/2 is also very good. Haven't looked at distortion but I suspect the K28/2 is superior there too. The FA31 is a fine lens, but the K28/2 is its own marvel.

Yes, the K 28 f2 is a collaboration of Zeiss and Pentax which had a limited run production. Hence the high price on the market. Someone from Singapore compared the K 28 f2 with the modern Zeiss ZK 28 f2 and some of the forum members actually commented that they favor the Pentax version. Note that the modern Zeiss is not equivalent or the same as the Zeiss hollywood version.

For those who can mount a M lens and need a fast 28mm, please take a look at the new Chinese 7artisan 28mm f1.4 Leica mount lens. I have seen great pictures taken with it online and it is on my wish list. Just fueling some of you who have LBA's.
