APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM

As a lot of you guys know I was tossing up between the FA50mm 1.8 and the DA40mm 2.8 ltd and then came across the DA35mm 2.8 macro ltd.

So today off I went to camera shop to decide which I was going to buy.
When I got there I was instantly drawn to a big fat piece of glass with $999 (australian) on the tag and it was the SIGMA APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM, brand spanking new.

Now seeing as yesterday I went out and the cheap little ol' 55-200 never came off my camera obviously the LBA hit.

I put this lens on my K20D and I felt like a GOD, lol. took a few test snaps, could hardly hear it focus, seemed fast and Focused well inside the store, took it outside and it was so bright, I decided I didnt need the 50 etc just yet

after asking for discount (hehehe) and being told this retails at $1499 I put down a $600 deposit and now will have to wait till the end of the week to pick it up.

I hope this lens is as good as the reviews on the previous 70-200 2.8

Will post some pics as soon as it sits on the camera

Camera-Warehouse has it for $949 - http://www.camera-warehouse.com.au/p/sigma-70-200mm-f2.8-ii-ex-dg

I was able to get Paxtons (on George St in Sydney) to match that price, so I picked it up for a little less than your price.

But anything below $1000 AUD is a bargain, and for once we get it cheaper than it sells in the U.S. (once you factor in currency exchange).

Very happy with mine.

I got it from Paxtons in the city. They matched the price over the phone, so I jumped on my motorbike and picked it up that same day! (so no postage - only the $5 petrol it would have cost me)

I love this lens. I had been looking forward to getting either it or the tamron version, but when the sigma can be bought for so cheap, with a local warranty, the decision was made for me!

Here are a few pics: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/38028-sharks-hit-wild-storm.html

Bonovox, well done!!!

saw your thread before but for some reason it didnt sink in!!!

My best mate from my late teens was scouted by the Canberra Raiders, off he toddled over east but unfortunately he only played a few games then went off to Germany to play and now has ended up in the States, wife kids etc.

He was a damn good player, star of WA rugby League made me look like I was all thumbs

Great shots, looks like I will have to go to a Game just to see if I can sneak in my lens

When I bought mine, it was only 699 AUS dollars brand new. I guess the price has not come down much.

What is the FA50 1.8? Not that I'm an authority or anything but I've only ever heard of a FA50 1.4 and a F50 1.7...
