I have a couple of thoughts here. First of all, Pentax is focused on filling out the full frame line up. That will include DFA *35 and 85, along with a prosumer 70-300, 20-ish mm prime, and fisheye zoom and maybe some other stuff. That is enough work for them without re-doing old lenses. Second, there is probably a decent amount of stock floating around right now and Ricoh would risk being unable to move it if they gave an indication that they were coming out with updated 16-50 and 50-135 lenses.
The 11-18 is a clear indication though, that Pentax is planning to continue high end APS-C and will continue to release top end lenses for it. It was the one lens that was missing more than any others from the line up -- the ultra wide, weather sealed, f2.8 optic.
If I were going to guess, I would say that pentax will update both the 16-50 and 50-135, but that that update will happen a couple of years from now, say, 2021 at the earliest.
