Recommendation for repair of 77mm limited

I purchased last year a very clean 77mm limited lens second hand at an attractive price. Recently the manual focus stopped working, which didn't bother me too much but the problem developed and now autofocus is also jammed. From a search on the web I understand that this is a known issue.
What are cost effective and reliable options for repair? Thanks for your suggestions and insights.

Is the reason for it being jammed related to the distance contact brushes dislodging then jamming? If so then a disassemble, remove offending part and replace. Shouldn't be a hard job and parts should be available. Send to an authorised dealer?

I'm uncertain how easily available such a service is in Israel.
Kerenor Camera Repair, Jerusalem might be a good place to start.

From what I know, this is not typically a complex repair, and it's something that sometimes happens with older FA Limiteds. Best of luck getting it fixed!

Thanks, will try. But I also have no issue sending this to the US or other place for repair if that's a better option. I really just want to make sure it's done right and not too expensive.

No idea. I'm not mechanical enough to start tinkering. Thanks though.

That may be the issue where the screws were not thread locked and it has now worked its way loose.

Mine fell apart and dropped half the lens on the ground. Be careful and don't use it until you can get it fixed. Good luck.

Wow I'm wondering if that was a Japan-made or Vietnam-made lens ?

If as Adam says the condition is common to early FA Limiteds it would be Japan made. I’ve had all mine CLA’ed just in case.

You may want to consider sending to this company in Japan. They were formed by former Pentax repair engineers and specialists. Can write to them.
