A surprise result from the A70-200/F4

I have a Pentax-A 70-200/F4 (non-SMC version). This lens does not have great contrast and is generally looked down on compared to the SMC version. I have to increase the contrast a bit in PP. I was forced to use it instead of a prime (M50/F1.7) for a flower shot recently, when I could not get close to the flower, with settings that should show its weaknesses: 200mm FL & aperture set to F6.7. But I was rather pleased with the result. Sometimes you get lucky.

There are parts of a spider's web on the right. I love the shadow of the stem across the leaf at the top centre.

Dan.

Yeah Dan, it was a good capture.

I was rubbing my monitor to see if there was dirt on it and as I scrolled down I saw your comment, you must have been reading my thoughts.

Not bad, not bad at all. Flowers of this colour are quite tricky to capture right.

I love the colours, but as ftp says, the vibrant pinks can be difficult to capture, but you have caught them well.

Back on subject, sometimes even lenses that have foibles, can be used to the advantage and to effect.
