Does this lens have fungus?

Need help with a purchase! Here's some photos. Not sure if the specks I'm seeing are fungus?

I can't see any clear indication of fungus, certainly some dust/crud and a fingerprint. Bit hard to tell from these photos.

Hope it helps.

fungus - for me - usually looks like dendritic finger patterns.

Clean the back and the front lens and do a retest! From your pictures it's hard to say something!

Definitely dust and quite possibly some fungus (the elongated patterns). That looks like a pretty beaten up lens. I'd make sure that the dust and fungus are the only problem with it.

I don't own this lens yet. First lens I have seen with no screws on the back. I wonder how I'm suppose to open it. The front element looks like it would need a vacuum pad to be opened.

Does anyone here know which one is better between the two? Yashica lens ML 50mm 1:1.7 vs Yashinon ds-m 50mm 1:1.7. I wasn't able to find a comparison between the two.

You seem pre-occupied with small dusts inside a lens. I would avoid looking at used lenses other than near mint quality if these are your concerns.

These types of lenses are opened with spanner wrenches and ring cups.

You are likely to introduce more dust/smudges than were there previously attempting to open them up for cleaning.

Unfortunately, they don't have any in near mint. I also don't feel it is a necessity to pay more for a lens that has a flawless body. As long as the optics don't have any haze, fungus, chips, and deep scratches it should be good.

"You are likely to introduce more dust/smudges than were there previously attempting to open them up for cleaning." False! Here's a example of a lens I recently cleaned that was full of fungus.

So if you have previously managed to take apart another lens and cleaned the fungus out, why are you asking if the pictured lens has fungus or not?

I'm only able to tell when it has webbed. I'm not sure how to tell them apart from specks of dust when they haven't webbed. Maybe if it was in front of me I could see the fibers. Also since there isn't a guide for a teardown for this particular lens. I'm not 100% sure I can do it.

This answers it. "Eventually, M42 was replaced with C/Y and the DS-M was replaced by the ML. This was their best version." Good thing I have the ML. I don't have to waste money on the DS-M. Thanks for your help.
