Good luck!
Flea markets, pawn shops, and thrift stores can turn up some great deals.
That's true! I find it more exciting opening cases and seeing what's inside. You never know what you may find. Another one I'm interested in is the SMC Pentax K 50mm F1.2.

I only paid $8.00 for this one.

I have both

I have both lenses and although I'm not an expert the 8 elements lens will give more of that cinema 1950's look. Its truly an amazing lens.

I dig that look, so that would be a added bonus.

I have a slightly beat-up seven-element lens that is great.

It is soft and dreamy wide open, but not too much...

Stopped down, it sharpens up nicely.

I almost never use it on digital (I have an A50 f1.4 that renders nearly the same way), but itís a treat on film...

For me, the extra cachet of the 8-element isnít worth it...

If you do want an 8 element version of the lens, the best way to find it is on Spotmatic bodies. That's how I got mine for under 100 dollars.

Checked every Spotmatic a few days ago and nada. All of them were the 7 element versions.

Here are two I have on the server here... both on the 'dreamy' side...

This is one of my favorites with the lens ever...

And I think this is the 50, but it might be the 28 f3.5...
