Highest rating on the overall score is my SMC 21mm Limited, and highest rated sharpness is the Sigma 50mm macro, followed closely by the DA 70mm Limited.

Highest rated zoom is the DA 16-85mm, closely followed by two 30-year-old Tamron Adaptall SPs: the 50-300mm and the 35-80mm.

I have a table of all my lenses including weight, filter size and PF scores for Overall and for Sharpness. So I can check them all, although I do not update the table when the scores are revised - that would be excessive, wouldn't it? Keeping a table is just normal OCD I think, combined with LBA.

Ranked order for mine:

FA 77 9.73
DFA 100 9.64
DA* 60-250 9.56
FA 43 9.48
M 50 9.27
FA 20-35 9.23
DFA 28-105 9.12
FA 50 8.91

I'd say that's about right, except I probably value the DFA 100 WR a bit lower than the 60-250. The M 50's rating is skewed much higher than the FA 50's and there's no reason for that. I think I'd value the DFA 28-105 higher than the FA 20-45 also, but they're close.

It turns out that my highest rated lens is the one I like the least: the S-M-C Takumar 105mm/2.8 with a score of 8.97. And my lowest rated lens is the one I like best and use more than all the others put together: the Super Takumar 20mm/4.5 with a score of 8.50. So on that basis it looks like I should be trying out some lenses with even lower scores -- I'll probably love them.

(And you really need to be quite sceptical about Takumar reviews, because of all the people who mark them down for things like "no autofocus", "no matrix metering", and "warranty expired in 1967".)

I haven't quite gotten the hang of manual focus telephoto lenses yet.
If you ever get bored of trying - I've been looking for a while for a long macro, to be used at macros distances, where I focus by subject distance and AF is thus irrelevant.

For me the Macro Tak 50/4 preset with a rating of 9.58.

Though it is lumped in with the the Super and S-M-C versions. With 1x magnification vs .5x it may be rated differently stand alone.

The Pentax Auto 110 50mm f2.8 is a perfect 10.

It might seem odd that a $25 lens without an iris that was designed for a 110 camera could get a high score but on a Q or Q7 it gives beautiful results.

Simplicity has its rewards.

The highest rated Pentax lens I own is the 8-element Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4, which is rated at 9.57.

However, prime lenses don't fit my photography style very well, especially not a 50mm since my primary camera is a KP, and I tend to use wide angle more than "normal" these days.

The lens I use the most is the DA 18-135mm which is rated at 8.53
The highest rated lens I use regularly is the 55-300mm PLM which is rated at 8.88

These are my highest-rated lenses:

RATING - LENS

10 - Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 125/2.5
10 - Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 180/4
9.92 - Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90/3.5
9.89 - Pentax-F* 300/4.5

They are all significantly better than lenses that I have in the 9-9.5 range, particularly in terms of various aberrations. It seems like the rating scale is overly compressed at the high end. Or perhaps the problem is that that too much weight is given to sharpness alone. A really great lens is not just super sharp, it has minimal aberrations. Of course this is much easier to achieve with longer lenses. My most-used lenses are all wide-angle lenses that do not rate as highly. It's hard to make a wide angle lens that's a "10".

My highest rated is the SMC Takumar 85mm f/1.8 at 9.67

Second place is the 50mm f/1.2 bokehbeast at 9.55

Third is the Auto Takumar 55mm f/1.8 early version 2, 1960-1962, at 9.35

Coincidentally they are the most used glass out of my 11 vintage Pentax lenses.

The ratings system may not be perfect, but it isn't just coincidence that 3 of my favourite lenses are pretty close to the top rated...

A*200/4.0 Macro, F*300/4.5 and D-FA*50/1.4

My ranking would put the D-FA*50/1.4 in first place

My highest rated is the SMC Pentax 50mm F4 Macro at 9.55. It is a gem of a lens.

My most used lens is the HD DA 16-85mm (9.14 rating), and I tend to use it and the DA 10-17mm FE (8.95 rating) the most. For primes I most use and enjoy the DA 21 f3.2 (9.09) and the DA 40 XS (9.19).

I've bought most everything used, so they have all been good values for me.

Shows you that there is a limit to these ratings. I agree that the 16-85 is better optically than the 18-135, however the (very good) 28-105 should score close to the 16-85. And why are those so much higher than the FA 50mm F1.4?

I've been overly enthusiastic in my first lens reviews, which I have then revisited to give fairer comments.

Along with jcdoss, the lens in my kit that has the highest rating is an A* 200mm f4 macro, purchased sometime back in the early 1990's. I had a Voigtlander 125mm f2.5 macro for a while, but i didn't like the handling or the rendition as well as the 200mm. As jcdoss noted, the knobs on the tripod foot are a nuisance. You cannot rotate any DSLR to vertical by rotating lens within the tripod ring/mount because the forward projecting prism + built-in flash bumps against one or the other knob on the lens before the camera is rotated to vertical orientation. I frequently ad a short extension tube which corrects that problem.

Other highly rated lenses in my kit
Pentax 50mm SMCA macro
Voigtlander 180mm f4 close-focus
Pana-Leica 200mm f2.8
Olympus 300mm f4
Olympus 60mm macro

Don't know about ratings but the highest resolving lens has to be the DFA 50mm 1.4
