11-18mm Can we expect a price drop?

Hi,

I'm looking at picking up the 11-18mm ... Do you think we can expect a price drop in the next few months or do they generally stay at their entry prices.

Cheers Andy

It really depends. It could drop if there are any sales planned for April, but personally I wouldn't expect much for a few months. It's just starting to hit the shelves.

I’m waiting until November unless something happens between now and then.

In recent year there was a tendency of lens prices to increase.

I will put up a post if I buy one. Prices usually drop right after I buy.

DA* lenses are premium products. It's probably a safe bet that prices will drop slower than other lenses.

The first price drop in the US on the DFA* 70-200 took place after about 5 months, from $2297 to $1797.

Please, buy two of them by this summer

EDIT: I would expect that 11-18 will be included in this year summer cashback.

It will drop eventually. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the copy I already have.

If my memory tracks right, the DFA* 50 didn't drop until late November in timing with the typical price drops we see around Thanksgiving/cyber Monday time frame. My guess is we've got a few more months before we'll see a sale on this one too.
