I imagine that the capability is still there, it just needs demand to build.

I think it's better to place your bets with Tamron or Tokina, rather than Sigma, for new K-mount glass. (But probably not directly in terms of new lenses, but more as development partners for new K-mount or simply Pentax branded glass). And Samyang - for years they have been pretty reliable K-mounters, and may even offer K-mounts with AF one day soon. Plus keep an eye on the Chinese lens makers - Laowa, Mitakon and others are still very K-mount friendly.
