Quick comparison between GR III and K-3 II with HD DA 21 Limited. I'm posting more to show that the GR is pretty sharp and to give a sense of how the front/back bokeh generally looks like.
Read the paragraph at the end of this post carefully before you jump to sweeping conclusions, this is by no means a controlled test

Disclaimer: This is not a controlled test, even in a looser sense. I just tried to have some fixed settings so that it's not entirely all over the place (different subjects and random settings). There are many factors that varied: sample variations (I don't have a collection of each, and only took one exposure per setting), auto exposure and the light was changing as it was coming from a window behind me. I tried my best to get the same angle of view by moving the tripod, but of course it's not exactly the same, I think the GR was a little closer.
Please, don't use this to draw conclusions on absolute sharpness, and or about "how blurry the background is." I didn't exactly control the distance between the camera and the scene, and at this close range even a a couple cm make a bigger difference than half a stop in aperture.
Common setup: 2 second timer, tripod, iso 100, processed with default settings in darktable in an attempt to avoid differences from in-camera jpeg settings, auto exposure and auto white balance
Pinpoint af for the gr, live view af for the k-3 ii and manual tweaking if it was slightly off.
