The front element has a band designating the lens name and f number and focal length etc, but it's black with gold inlay, mine is the opposite, it's rose gold coloured with black inlay for the name etc.. Did they do two different version of this lens?
No, there ware some changes in the exterior markings of Tamron lenses made during production. All of later production batches shipped with gold ring(same design as seen on 17-50/28-75/10-24 etc.), older production runs got black with gold lettering, same case was for fist batches of 28-75. My copy of 70-200/2.8 from 2014 have a gold ring.
