Touché.
I yield.

One of my favourites on my K-3 II is the SMC Pentax 'K' 30mm f/2.8, which produces images that have a 'gentle sharpness' to them, if there's such a thing.

(The first and second images were shot on a K-5 II)

Could also entertain recommendations for other higher-end manual lenses. Leica R, anyone? Zeiss?
You can take a look at the older Contax Zeiss lenses, especially the 28mm/f2.8 Distagon T* and the 85mm/f2.8 Sonnar T*. You need to use the Leitax.com remount kit to the K mount. These are reasonably available, and thus affordable - but have the Zeiss colors and 3D microcontrast effect.

The manual focus on the FA limiteds is quite good.

It so happens I know where to find one in perfect operating condition, yet retaining all the original patina.

I’ll nominate the F50 f1.7

Generally inexpensive, yet is a bargain for the field of view and speed on APS-c

Obviously, any of the classic 50s will work, but the F has autofocus and body-controlled aperture for generally under $100...

And it’s optically strong.

A few already mentioned that I'd vouch for:

M 28/2.8
A 50/2.8 Macro
F 50/1.7 (albeit its filter ring is known to break off easily as it is plastic)

Few I'll add:
K 55/1.8 - easily available and inexpensive
SMC Takumar 35/3.5 - cheapest 35mm tak, and an awesome performer. A faster Tak 35mm is available and might be "better", but I've never used it so I cannot comment on it.

I would also say a good 28mm lens would offer the most versatility. Even the FA 28mm f/2.8 is a pretty good choice. The FOV on your KP will be about the same as the FA 43mm LTD on your K-1, which is like wide-normal, which is regarded as true normal for accurate perspective.

Then on your K-1 it will serve as a very good, useful compact wide angle.

I think Sandy is spot on. Though if you're keeping with a crop sensor body, I'd probably recommend staying with longer focal length lenses just because I think you'd get more out of them. But on the K-1, Sandy is right, they are all more fun. I've been having a wonderful time with my old M20/4 lens since getting my K-1, and some other old wide lenses too. Personally, I didn't think they played well with my crop sensor bodies, so I rarely touched them.

BTW, wonderful images on your website. Love the feel of them.

The Super Takumar 135 f/3.5 and 200 f/4 are both stellar. And neither are radioactive.

I have the M-28 f/2.8 and it's a good focal length to have, I think it lacks micro-contrast though.

M 50 1.7 is quite nice, although the F 50 1.7 is basically the same lens + slightly better coatings + AF.

I really like the rendering quality of the M 50 f4 Macro although I do not own a copy myself.

M 28 f2.8 mk2 is quite good and gives a very nice field of view on a crop body. F 28 f2.8 is the same story as the 50 1.7's above.

I like my Tamron Adaptall 90mm f2.5 Macro quite a bit on both film and crop digital.

Lately I've been thinking about one of the later copies of the Porst 55mm f1.2. Would be excellent for portrait work on crop, would be good for grabbing light on film. A copy of that is probably the next lens I purchase although I'm in no rush. I also need to sell a dozen or so...

+1 on this, I got beaten to it. Just to add... a fine example IMHO of Pentax engineering, at it's very best.
