I get a much better IQ from my DA12-24 than I do from my copy of the DA15, especially at wider apertures. As far as I'm concerned all the DA15 has going for it is its small size. I find it far too unpredictable. Best of luck if you plan on not doing any post-processing.

What are your thoughts on the DA 21?

No idea about the 20-40 but I think the 12-24 is a very good lens and a workhorse for me, including vacation travel. I've only used on aps-c bodies, currently a pair of K3II's.
I ordered mine, today.

OK Guys, now that I have the DA 12-24 ordered, what Pentax lens pouch do you all use? Thank you.

Well, since we are apparently comparing a Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens to a Pentax 12-24mm f/4 lens, each has strengths and weaknesses. The Pentax lens's main weakness is purple fringing or CA's in some high contrast situations. I cannot vouch for the Sigma lens, but the Pentax has very low linear distortion starting at 15mm or even less. Even at 12mm its linear distortion is not bad at all for such a wide angle. As clackers said, its range at its mid to longer end allows use on the K-1 as well.

Well, Mike,
I guess all ultra wide have their issues. I really like the colors from the 12-24. I guess that was the deciding factor, for me.

I've had the DA 12-24mm for quite a number of years and I've been very happy with it. It has been so good, I am hesitant in considering the newer DA* 11-18mm f/2.8, even though the new lens has WR, a quiet AF motor, and the faster f/2.8 aperture. I like the greater zoom range of the DA 12-24mm, while the newer one is also quite pricey.

Pentax would be unwise to discontinue the 12-24mm f/4 lens. Its fine performance at a much lower price provides an alternate choice for those who can do without the newer lens's advantages, which for some is not an affordable option anyway so they'd have to go to Sigma if the DA 12-24mm were not available.
