Question on PK-mount Vivitar 17mm f3.5

Apologies if this is in the wrong place; feel free to move it if it is. I have read the reviews of the Vivitar 17mm/3.5 that is reportedly a rebadged Tokina RMC 17. There is a different 17/3.5 out there that I'd like to get some info on. This one appears to predate the "Series 1" lens that's pictured in the database. The thread diameter is 72mm, not 67, and there are "ears" on the front flange that look to serve as minimal hoods. If anyone can direct me to information on this version, or provide feedback/review of it, I'd appreciate it.

I think that one was also Tokina. And Spiratone and Soligor (and maybe others) had ones that looked the same, some of which were marked as 18/3.5 instead of 17/3.5. Never seen it in Pentax mount though, unless it is just another variant of the RMC that was for some reason cosmetically different in other mounts. Probably an earlier lens though.

I have the viv 17mm, it's cetainly a tokina - 37xxx serials. And I think you're right there are two versions with different morphology...I found these pics:

The precise relationship with the tokina rmc equivalents is not entirely clear, it's not just a rebadge in many or even most cases, the tokina made T4/TX mount vivitars are case in point.
Good lenses, but not cheap on the s/h market.

So, do you have the 72mm version or the 67mm version? And, how does it perform? Thanks for the pix.
