I stumbled across this website in Italian describing a hitherto unknown Pentax lens to me. It's not in the database either like some other unicorn lenses.

I know. The writer calls it an M. But K seems more likely to me too. Pentax was really developing a lot of wide lenses at that time.

The picture is certainly of a K series lens.
There was a brief discussion in DPR in 2007 about 1976 prototype K20/1.4
Absolutely nothing concrete.

There was a similarly elusive M series 35/1.4 of course. I don't know anyone who has seen one of them in the wild either.

Bojidar Dimitrov (the original creator of the K-mount page) claimed to have handled the dedicated lens hood for the M 35 1.4 complete with packaging, and did believe a few copies had been sold. I am not so sure myself, otherwise some images would have appeared over the intervening 40 years surely?

Oh, that old thing? Several years ago I picked up three of these lenses at a garage sale, BNIB, never used. The (original) owner said he picked them up on a business trip to Japan but never used them because he never shot wide angle. Just clearing out the junk.


I forgot I had them -- they've been stored in a dry box in my basement. I'll have to get one out and try it.
