I don't know anything about this lens, but it seems the guy in Japanese forum has.

Please be careful. Some here may have an undiagnosed heart condition.

Looks like someone has a copy in Japan. Would be nice to see it in person.

Right, he could sell tickets to see it. Purchase would cost a mortgage on your home.

There were at least 7 prototypes. This must be one of them.

Not without a quick re-design to bring it up to snuff for 21st century pixel peepers, methinks.

Eleven elements won't cut it today. How about a 35-element formula with a barrel the size of a large coffee can (and weighs as if it's filled with ice cream)? A 105mm front filter size should be enough to convince us it's to be taken seriously. Anything less, and ... well, how's the micro contrast and bokeh going to be any good?

Once the pre-production prototypes show the thing is truly massive enough to justify its lofty price tag, then it will be good enough to bayonet onto some skinny full-frame mirrorless body for "street photography".

I think that by the time it was ready, photography had moved on to smaller more portable lenses, hence the m-series.

1976... performance wide open was probably the main problem. Or production too expensive/difficult. The idea of a 1.4/20 is still interesting for that year. The Ermanox of Pentax.

Yeah it had aspherical element(s), so it would have been expensive like the K28/2, which had floating elements. The K28/2 is good wide open, so the K20/1.4AL probably would be the same.

Agreed, I'd love to see some sample photos from the lens too. Very interested to see the rendering...
