COSINA curiosity..............

......so, yesterday a seller out of Bridgeport, NY put up on eBay some lenses advertised as 'new, old stock'. One was a Cosina 55/1.2. I threw a bid in and it went for $230. A while later I checked 'new listings' and he had another with a BIN of $159, so I bought it. Still later another one appeared and someone (US) snapped that one up. There is one out there now but with a BIN of $359! All the listings used the same text and pix.....instant inflation?!

It's either a scam, or the guy got on the internet to sell it, and then decided to google the lens, see what people thought of it...it's a slippery slope after that .

How old/new is that lens?
Ive got an old Cosina 28mm 2.8
It's sharp for it's age, and Im quite curious about these lenses myself.

I asked about this lens a few months back as to IQ. Not many relpies. Still curious, but LBA in check.

Lens is similar to the Porst 50mm f/1.2 if I am not mistaken.
Frankly I won't pay that sort of money for an old K-mount lens. It doesn't have the A setting on the aperture ring to allow shooting in every exposure mode which negates it's utility value. Better value to get a Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4 or a Pentax A 50mm f/1.4 imo.

I just noticed the BIN has been lowered to $259. I agree that the lack of an 'A' setting is a major negative - I only bought it to see what it can do..........IQ-wise, I mean.....compared to my PTX 1.2s.........

$225 for a new old stock lens seems quite a bargain. This Cosina bokeh champion looks like the "poor man's Nokton" -- in fact, it's rather a Nokton killer lens with comparable image quality and 1/2 stop faster aperture than the Cosina/Voigtländer lens...

Cheers!

Yeah, I'd be on that lens for $225. The photos I've seen from the lens in question have all been good, for the most part. Plus, $225 isn't bad for a 1.2 lens, with or without the electronic coupling (well, at least for me).

you can always take out the aperture lever, then it will act like a M42 lens

a pentax using fella by the name of Lance coined the term "LBA" which stands for "lens buying addiction"

he even recieved some sort of gift and praise from Pentax themselves.

this derived from the fact that due to Pentax's reverse compatability to lenses made over 3 decades ago, you can assemble a vast collection for a seemingly low cost (with individual lenses selling for 30-50 dollars)
