Pentax-F 50mm F1.4

Yes, that's that says Pentax-F and not the FA.

Does anybody have one of these? Better yet, has anyone seen one of these in person? I'm assuming it's a fairly rare lens since I've never seen one for sale anywhere or even seen any discussions about it.

Just picked this one up earlier today. Lens is in mint condition. The glass is pristine and the body is perfect. Build quality seems to be considerably better than the FA50. Manual focus dampening is really nice too.

.

I have the F 50 1.7 (not 1.4,) and it's very good. I like the build quality also - some say the design looks 70's/cheesy, but I like the look.

I have a copy of this lens and agree that it is quite rare, at least on the used market. It took me many months to find one for sale.

My only issue with it is that the manual focusing ring is quite narrow and the knurling is slippery. The FA model has a better MF ring IMO.

I've had the lens before, and I agree w/ Jim, the MF ring is too narrow to my like. Besides, the rubber piece which covers the barrel peel off quite easily - a common problem w/ most F lenses.

there's a certain mystique about this lens because it has a very high photodo score and that it's a rather rare item. not sure how it could be any better than the FA50

somebody tried to pawn one of these at a ridiculous price on the marketplace a while back and no one bit. when queried, the person was serious :|

I have this lens. It took forever to find it. I had to have it sent from London from some remote camera shop. I have been offered $400 for it, which was a price I was willing to sell because I was in a bind financially. It was the last piece of equipment that I ever wanted to part with. Luckily I ran into some money and didn't have to.

The lens is spectacular. I am certainly biased with this thing.

I've never had a problem with mine.

If I had to guess I might say that I see one on eBay about 1x per year on average.
