2X Converter question

Will this work? Can I mount my 2x converter to my *ist d body, and mount my M42 adapter to the 2x, then mount my screw mount lens? I know in theory it should work, but does anyone know why it wouldn't work?

Yes, it'll work and I've done it with extension tubes also:-).
