Thank You everyone for the thread - it helped me to decide. The Tamron is now ordered...

With two trips this summer, above the Polar Circle and to Gotland, there will be plenty of opportunities for nice shots. My old Sigma 135-400 will stay at home (does't like the long end of it, hard to get good pictures out of it). f:2.8 + image stabilization is perfect for my way to handle these things. And I don't care about the lack of HSM, I'm usually hand-tune my lenses anyway...

Thanks for all the great pictures everybody. I ordered my copy last Thursday. It's scheduled to arrive on Monday or Tuesday. I can't wait to take it out for some shots. We leave on vacation Sunday afternoon and it should get a good work out on a trip to my inlaws who live in Oklahoma. This fall I'm headed to India and my plans are to take it with me even though it's a quite heavy lens. I appreciate all the pictures posted here. They provided the final convincing I needed to spend more on a lens than I've ever spent before. I'm pretty confident I am going to really like the results.

Thanks to all you pentaxians I am expecting delivery of my Tammy 70-200 2.8 DI macro TODAY (love those long names hehe).
I have seen alot of pics online and read lots of reviews and went for the tammy instead of sigma version due to better IQ. I dont care about HSM. The k20d should be quick enough hopefully.
I nearly went for the DA 50-135 but really wanted the extra mm.
I am fairly new to digital photography and the only lenses i have so far are Da 40mm limited, Da 12-24 f4 and M series 50mm f2.
All are wonderful lenses in their own way. I dont think there are 'best lenses' or 'favourite lenses' because it all changes the next time you wake up with an image in your head...mmmm do i feel like a wide angle today or do i feel like zooming or am i in a bokah mood.......actually i am always in a bokah mood.
The bokah is the reason i went for the tammy 70-200 because from all the shots i saw online, i think it has one of the best bokahs i have seen....it really gives a 3D effect........i'm just typing this while i wait for the delivery man.
I will post some shots soooooon.
Ps. this is the best forum i have ever seen!!!
Thankyou,
jack.

Mine was about the same price, but was sent by Courier so arrived super quick!

I have done a focus test chart, is anyone able to take a look and confirm it's ok?

Looks okay to me but would like a second opinion..

First pics with K20d and tamron 70-200mm 2.8.
The one in flight is A tad out of focus but he shot off like a bullet......i love the tammy bokeh tho.
Both pics were taken Tav mode...1000s, f2.8 at 400 iso at 200mm focal length.
They are not cropped or processed either so i reckon for my first hour attempt with this beast it performed NICE.
Any opinions?
This lens is heavy but i love it already.

jack.

Got the 70-200 in today. Headed out to just shoot some pics. No rhyme or reason, I just headed down to one of the Indian reservations just south of Phoenix and shot most of them out the front windows. Too darn hot to get out and walk around. Looking forward to putting it to good use. Experimented with a bunch of different settings.
