Just picked up the Sigma HSM version of the 70-200 at B&H while on a vist to the USA. In comparison to the Tamron lens, a number of photographs taken at a high school night football game are posted at:

Picasa Web Albums - Doomba - Beavercreek v...

Overall, I have very impressed with this new addition to the stable.

I think your lens is way sharper than my DA* 50-135 towards the tele end

here are 2 shots both at f3.2 from my 50-135

They look like they are really having a blast. Taken at Lake Anna by any chance?

I'll be able to show examples from a K100D by this weekend, but no K10D, sorry.

No joy here

No joy here
The lens has yet to make it to local stores (physical or e-shops).
I don't want to buy such an expensive piece of delicate (and with poor QC) equipment overseas
Just wanted to take this out of me

Thanks. Been to Topsail Beach quite a few times, but not for many years. Used to camp at the KOA campground there -- I lived in Fayetteville, NC.

This last series is excellent. This lens looks great. Also this is an excellent series of shots. Love the Hasselblad shooter and the older couple looking at the P&S screen. Nice work! That last shot is prime time quality!!!

Beautiful shots! I had just about decided on the Sigma version, now I'm leaning the Tammy way! (Listen to the small voice in your head... Must go inside a school gym and take pics for the undecided lady )

Good eye guys, I didn't recognize what brand it was from that distance. She was
also shooting with a regular SLR film camera - didn't see any digital.

These folks were her subject:

A lot of people come through those gardens with cameras, but just as many people
are shooting for weddings or events than shooting at the foliage. It's a good
place to see a lot of different cameras. I've had people wander over to ask
about my Takumars - my Taks love that place. Interestingly enough, a huge lens
like the Tammy 70-200 doesn't get that many second looks.

I'm looking into a lens of this range/speed and the photos posted so far are really impressive, but the Sigma version has HSM and that pretty much decides it for me. AFAIK the image quality of both lenses is about the same. Would anyone say otherwise?
