I agree.. He is a very good photographer ...
I'll buy the Sigma for that!

Hi everybody

I am a new member of this forum. I live in France. I am interested to get this lens (Tamron70-200). I am looking to buy it on the Adorama website here

AF001P700 Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Pentax Autofocus Mount - USA Warranty

But in this page, it is written that "This Item is out of stock due to a back order situation"
What does it mean? It a technical problem with the lens?

I also hesitate between the Tamron 70-200 and the Sigma 70-200.

Can you help me to choice please?

I heard that the AF is noisy and not very fast on camera SLR. Is the the same with a pentax K10D?

Backorder means that there are no shipments from the factory, propably due to lack of production... The stock is empty ... Nothing technical about the lens.

I made my choise for the Tamron but that's my demands from the lens (IQ wide open @ tele range)
I've the impression that the focus of Tamron is not a real issue with Pentax K10D.
Unfortunately the lens is on Backorder here as well

So you can confirm that the AF is bad and noisy with the tamron?

How is the image quality for the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM II?

Because I've read that the Tamrom is better than the Sigma for this caracteristic.

have you got examples of images from the Sigma (without any retouch)?

No, I don't. Never touched the thing. But by what I read on the net is no noisier or slower than it is with any no HSM/SDM lens on the Pentax.

Never touched this thing either! But by what I read on the net the IQ wide open is much worse for SIGMA (border resolution) and CA are noticable at slower apertures.

From what I read and compared (only through full resolution images) it is the case and the reason I wait to buy Tamron over Sigma.

Never touched either lens

You can find much information in these fora.

Thanx for this informations.
In my case, I am not used to take sport photographies. So I think the AF of Tamron will be ok for me. In the case of i have to take photos of sport or anything else fast, i hope it will be ok with the Tamron !!

PS: I hope my english is not so bad and you can understand me...

Thanks

Did you order one?

EDIT: Never mind, for whatever reason I didn't see your paste appear at first.

Congrats!!! It's a lot of money, but there are CaNikon users paying twice that for the same CaNiKon equiv
(or at least the ones that aren't smart and buying tamron 70-200's!)

Now the mandatory TC question...

Now that the Tamron 70-200/2.8 is on it's way, my basic question is... How will images with this lens come out with a 1.4/1.5/1.7/2x TC?...

Now, the normal answers...(I've always liked multiple choice tests.)
a. Not worth it, just crop and upsize.
b. Might be worth it with a 1.4 or 1.5, (some might say 1.7, but usually everyone waves you off of the 2X)...
c. Save some money and buy a Bigma (I have one actually).
d. ummm... my creativity's gone, so you can tell me what d is.

I have a bigma, but I can't travel all summer with this lens and a bigma and carry much else. I'd love to hear that a high end 2x TC give me acceptable results, but I don't expect to...

Whataya think can I make this a 400mm f/5.6 and get pictures anyone wants to look at (how about shot at f/8), or am I stuck carrying the 50-500 around too if I want this sort of reach... If it were animals, I could try to sneak closer to 'em, but sometimes I can't get too close to my subjects. I hate to crop too much as I'm only working with 10mp on a K200D.

I have given a definitive answer for myself: Just crop and upsize. Even with a 8Mp camera (that's what I used for testbed). The best teleconverter degrades resolution more than it's power (1,4X, 2X etc). The same goes for all IQ parameters.
But to make your own preleminary query just read this and this (you need not know polish to make out the diagrams!). I've found a lot of stuff about this issue around on the net but I don't remember where at the moment.
