what do you know about this lens?

70-200 F4 TAKUMAR A MACRO (58) / ZOOM LOOSE 35MM SLR MANUAL FOCUS ZOOM TELEPHOTO LENS . is this lens worth buying?

Its focuses down to 1:2 for macro if I can recall correctly. I tried one at the camera store. It had a loose zoom ring. I think it should be a pretty decent lens. How much is it?

Funny you should be asking about this lens. I have just been doing some comparison between this very lens and the kit lens for the K110d. I have only tested the short end of the zoom. My conclusion so far is that it is a bit softer than the kit lens until stopped down to f8 or f11. I have not tested it at any longer focal lengths yet. I bought it some time back used for approx. $50.00 Can. I find it to be rather heavy and the zoom control rather loose[ it slides too easily]. It takes 58mm filters. I hope this info helps. You might not want to get it because it's non-SMC, but why not give the A 70-210/4 a try? It was one of my first zooms, and it produced stunning landscapes and macros on my K1000 and Super A.
