Such a beautiful lens.
Yes, with inner focus and inner zoom, the design is very robust and reliable, and very compact at this focal length.

By the way, there is something interesting things I noticed,

In a wester camera forum, people often write star lens as *

however we Japanese use ☆ or ★ more. (๑╹ω╹๑ )

Sure, Karen. Historically we only have the '*' character on a Western keyboard.

for me it would have to be the DA 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR - it's my most-used zoom and takes such awesome shots...

I talk about selling it for a different walk-about zoom occasionally and then take it out for the weekend... and I shut up about 'upgrading' it...

I will go with Tim and choose the 16-85mm for APSC camera. For wider I can stitch, for longer I can crop the image. It's not quite as easy to get the best images, compared to the 18-135mm but worth the perseverance.

If I pick the best zoom of each third party brand from what has been on my shelf, these would be the Sigma EX DG 24-60mm, the Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 35-80mm, Tokina 35-200mm.

If I had to choose only one zoom to rule them all... easily: DFA 28-105

I like the DA 18-135, etc... but they don't work on FF, which ruling only APS-C (though a large amount of Pentax-anything), is not them all. The DA* 60-250 is a hard contender, but I do think that on my APS-C body its range is too telephoto. On an APS-C the DFA becomes 42-157, which still sits in that sweet spot for me. The weather sealing, focus-override, almost silent focus seals the deal for me. I do like the IQ too! If Burns takes away the sun or I'm shooting at night I'd be in trouble... but that's why they made flashes (that my K-1 doesn't have... Hmm...)

For me, I would say the D FA 15-30, for the 15mm and 24mm.
