One K-Mount ZOOM to rule them all in 2019!!

Basically the same as Uncle Vanya’s thread for zooms (of course)

Obviously I’ll choose my trusty DA16-85WR

Well it has to be the D FA * 70-200 2.8, I just love shots taken with it and the details it shows make me look like a much better photographer than I am. Easy to live with and doubles as a weightlifting trainer too.

My vote goes to the HD Pentax DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR Lens. Sometimes I think it's mated permanently to my KP.

I'd go with tim64 in selecting the 16~85mm, by far the best wide to tele zoom of several I've had for Pentax, BUT, I like the Olympus 12~100mm f4 on MFT even better. Never thought I'd find a zoom better than the 16~85, much less one with a 24~200mm FF equivalent range.

I'll have to say, even though the convenience of a walkaround like the 16-85 or 28-105 is hard to beat, my favourite is the (modified for full frame) DA* 60-250mm.

I guessed I should play along since my thread inspired this one... . Really tough choices. In the final analysis I have to say, the DA* 50-135. I'd miss wider angles, but I'd just have to stitch.

The 20-40 and 18-135 were close rivals. The DA 17-70 f4 was another possible candidate.

DA 18-135, for me the best compromise between IQ and convenience.
On FF it would be the 28-105.

If I were condemned to a singular zoom on my camera, I fear I would have to switch brands.

For a long time the Sigma 8-16 was my most used lens but I've retired from the pursuit that made it so and now it has to be the 18-135

Well,on Uncle Vanya's thread I went ith the one I used most on the K-1 ( in this case it would be the 24-70 1:2.8) - here I'll go ith the one I'd miss most for reasons of amazing IQ - and that. of course, is the D-FA* 70-200

Hmmm... Personally, until they make a 12-600mm f2.8-6.3 macro zoom, no single zoom or prime can rule them all for me.

But if I had to..... I'd get a super-zoom even though they kind of suck (soft wide open, not sharp telephoto, no real macro).

I'd be happy to be banished to telephoto-land with the DA* 50-135mm f/2.8.

I've converted my copy to screwdrive and the AF fine adjustment is well tuned. It's a great lens.
