FA 80-320 vs Tamron 70-300 Di

Anybody has owned both to compare?
I do have Tamron. It's a great lens for the price IMHO. And has great macro capability. It's missing only one thing! Pentax logo on it...
I saw FA80-320 in good condition, I know that extra 20mm wouldn't be worth it. But otherwise?
THX for opinions...

I have both lenses. I use the Pentax more. The Tamron is a bit sharper (especially after 200mm) but purple fringing makes it unusable in high contrast situations and I live under the equatorial harsh sun. I guess it's a matter of personal preferences.

Cheers!

I have the FA80-320. A friend has the Tarmon 70-300 which I also use once in a while.

The Tarmon focus much faster. The pentax is much slower.

But in my experience, the pentax is much sharper than the Tamron.

?!? that's something to say as 70-300 from Tamron is regarded quite high between consumer zooms as for the sharlpness...

When I first get the FA80-320 (I bought it used from a fellow pentaxian here), I am also amazed at the sharpness, with respect to the Tamron 70-300 which my friend is using.

The FA is not the sharpest lens I have tried but I think the IQ is just fine.

I have the Pentax and I don't know the Tamrom

Maybe the AF is not Super Fast but it's VERY exact or precise (I don't know which word is correct) and the contrast and colours are great, several times I used a Polariser on it but then I realised that it's not necessary because the very own lens make beautiful colours...

And one more thing. The 80-320 price (at last here in Argentina) is very similar to the 70-300 or even cheaper...
