Anyone else receive new 20-40 Limited with stuck hood?

Just wondering: My new (reputable dealer) 20-40mm Limited arrived this week. The hood was firmly stuck on the lens. I tried a rubber kitchen grip; the hood wouldn't t loosen. Filter wrenches just put a small mark (like being burnished) on the lens barrel when one of them finally slipped around the barrel; the hood didn't budge, however. Finally, I warmed up a medical gel pack in the microwave (like one puts on a sore muscle), and wrapped it around the hood for a minute, hoping to expand the hood diameter but not the lens itself. After that, I could loosen the hood, though still with more force than I'd like to use. Anyway, in retrospect I'm wondering if this has been a common situation or mine was an outlier. (Otherwise, it's a very nice lens so far.)

No problem with my lens (but it was from KEH, not new). I do not even remember if it arrived with hood attached or separated.

My new DA 20-40 Limited arrived with the hood attached. I have not had any trouble removing or re-installing it. I tighten it just to the point of slight resistance, but no tighter.

To remove the hood, I grasp it lightly all around.

The hoods on my DA20~40 and DA70 were both quite tight until I could ‘break’ the initial resistance. I did that by exerting a gentle and constant twist until the unscrewing started. Once removed the first time I didn’t tighten them beyond the initial ‘stop’. I considered applying a toothpick-point of lithium grease to the threads but chickened out.

Hmmm. I've had mine over 2 years, and never have tried removing the hood. The lens cap fits over it, I've never yet used a filter on this lens, so I have just left the hood in place.

My 20-40 was used from KEH, no problems with it.

I actually only removed the hood to take the insurance ‘record photo’ of the lens.

Now being curious, I had to try unscrewing the hood. No problem at all. It began unscrewing with no trouble, so I just screwed it back, but not very tight- like it was before.

Luxury... You've clearly never fitted the supplied hood onto a Samyang 85mm f/1.4
