Takumar 70-200mm f/4

I received Takumar 70-200mm f/4 yesterday and am looking forward to use on both Pentax k1000 and on my X-E2 cameras. Do anyone use this lens and have pictures made by that lens?

I am also considering 200mm prime as well. Learning ropes around here.

Check in this series of threads of test images. the lenses are arranged in a fairly easy to locate fashion. If you can't find one, you get to scan and post your images! https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/130-lens-sample-photo-archive/210462-ind...s-section.html

I have a copy of that lens. My parents gave it to me for my birthday in the early 90s. I used it a lot on film. It's tough, easy to use on a DSLR because it's an A lens, and a constant aperture. It isn't very sharp at f4 and isn't very flare-resistant. The focus/zoom ring will feel almost loose, much easier to move than any manual focus lens I've used. It's fairly large and heavy. I probably haven't used it in 12 years. I got an SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm f4-5.6 that works a lot better, is more compact and more compatible with a Pentax DSLR. For your purposes, that lens is optically fine but not great for manual focus and you don't need AF or compatibility with SR. Maybe the SMC Pentax-A 70-210mm f4 instead? There's another thread on 200mm lenses for a K-1 with some other suggestions for zooms and primes.

Takumar-A 70-200mm

Just saw your post. I also have one that I paid $10 for. Was an auction and nobody else bid. See this image I took with it on my K-S2: Post your K-S2 Shots Here - Page 41 - PentaxForums.com

I like it and have also used it on some night shots on a tripod and got some good results.
