135mm f2.8 to macro or not to macro?

In order to temporarily satiate my LBA, and to keep this purchase to a minimum, I'm looking at getting either a Sears or JC Penney 135mm f2.8. Both these lenses come with or without macro. I like to shoot macro occasionally. Am I really missing that much getting the "straight non-macro" version of either of these lens? Does one have an edge over the other in terms of IQ?

I recently picked up a sears 135mm f2.8 macro for $31 on ebay. I like the macro function (adds versatility), and find the color rendering produced by this lens to be very pleasing. Heres a recent example
