Help needed:Tokina atx pro 28-70 f2.8 stops autofocus

It was mounted on K1 today. Suddenly, it can not register AF consistently. The carema will show MF and stop autofucusing after a few rotations, although all settings on camera and the lens clutch indicated autofocusing setting. I unmounted it, played around a bit, then put back on K1. It shows AF.C but revert to MF after took a few photos with successfully autofocusing. I tested on K10 with same results.

Anyone know what's going on and what will be the fix?

Clean the contacts on the lens and the camera, and see if that helps.
A microfibre cloth seems to work well for me.

I'd clean it and just to make sure that gears are in good position, switch back to MF and turn focus, then back to AF and again.
