My new DA 40mm f/2.8 is broken:-(

I was moving all my photogear to my new gadget room. One of my K10D's with the DA 40mm mounted on fell from a table and hit the wall and ended up on the floor. And now it's trash

The focus ring only goes from 0,4m mark to the 5ft mark.

This is the first time I manage to break something that costs this much.

Don't really need it, but my pancake collection is not complete.
Maybe I buy one when the new 15mm gets out.

It is an easy fix. I know that now. What I didn't say... I got a little mad and the lens was thrown i the trash, hard!

The lens works. But I'm not sure about the quality. I only need the missing front part of the lens.

Anyone know if it's possible to buy new replacement part from Pentax?

I think I only need the one marked in the picture.

Since it suffered from impact twice already, optically it might suffer even if you managed to put them back together. The thing is Pentax managed to produce Limited lenses (except FA31 which is structurally different) rather thin, they had to made the helicoil thinner as well. Since they are AF lenses, those helicoil threads cannot be made fitting too tight so they are also shallower. The end result is that they can be knocked out of alignment and jammed. The basic design is the same as the good old M lenses, just with more gaps between the helicoil threads. For this reason, people should "baby" their Limited lenses.

Sorry to see this. It seems that I have been seeing quite a few pancakes being broken and dismantled...
