Leica lens to pk mount adapter that will focus to infinity?

Dear fellow Pentaxians,

hoping that this question will not be deemed to far off-topic, I ask you this: having started playing around with takumar m42 lenses See attached image of a plum blossom, (Pentax K-7, Takumar 50mm f1.4 and extensiontubes) and after that some third party lenses, and having seen an ad for an affordable Leica lens, the LEICA ELMARIT-R 180MM F/2.8, I would like to know what is the best, if at all available, adapter to pk-mount that will enable infinity focus. Thank you for your replies,

Leica R and Pentax K have register distance that are very close.
So it is not easy to make an adapter that focus on infnity. You would basically need a teleconverter with K-mount on the camera end and Leica-R on the lens end. I do not think this type of adapter exist.

Another solution is to modify the lens with a new mount. Leica & Pentax & Nikon | Leitax

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

As noted above, Leitax is the most effective way to adapt Leica R lenses to Pentax K. A similar problem exists for Nikon F and Pentax K where the registration distances are also quite close and where Leitax is also the preferable solution.

I converted a Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 AI lens recently. I was my first Leitax conversion. I followed the instructions online, and it was pretty easy. Though some lenses are more difficult than others. Fenwoodian has converted a number of Leica lenses with the Leitax mounts. He could tell you a lot more about the process of converting those lenses.

.
Your LEICA ELMARIT-R 180MM F/2.8 lens is very easy to adapt (I own one and have already adapted it). An easy do-it-yourself project - all you need (besides the "classic" Leitax Leica R to Pentax K adapter) is a small philips head screw driver (magnetize it before using) and some lens grease.

Some Leica R lenses are easy to "Leitax" adapt. Some are harder. One is impossible (90mm f/2 Summicron).
