K-1ii reading Sigma 150-500mm as APS-C lens?

I have the Sigma DG 150-500 1:5-6.3 APO HSM with OS. I recently sent it in to Sigma to have the mount updated so I could use it with my K-1ii. The camera reads this as an APS-C lens and automatically enters crop mode, but the lens is a full frame lens. I can switch to full frame mode as long as I remember to do it. Is this expected or normal?

I leave my K1 in FF mode all the time.

There is one version of the 150-500 that identifies with an ambiguous id code (8 255) shared with several other Sigma lenses, including some crop-sensor DC models. That might be the explanation. What do tools such as Lightroom identify your lens as?

Thanks Steve. I think you nailed it. Lightroom does not report any lens identification (other than focal length and aperture).
