Just from my experiences. Tammy is sharper wide open, less distortion, less PF. Lacking weather seals and silent focus.

That is my experience as well after owning both lenses and testing them head-to-head. (well actually I owned 3 DA*16-50's but all were sent back for different defects). The Tamron is better if IQ is important to you. The 16-50 is better if you plan on shooting in the rain alot, or if the sound of a lens focussing bothers you.
