The DA 18-55 ain't bad

Despite not being the fastest lens, the 18-55 performs pretty well in most situations--even at night. Of course since I've gotten the 50mm 1.4, I don't use the 18-55 as much. But looking back at some shots I took in Toronto at the beginning of the year, I really appreciate its versatility.

Here are some images taken with the 18-55 straight from my K100D.

I thought about selling it for a second, but considering the limited profit I could make, it was wiser to hold onto it. There's a lot you can do with this lens.

And I was in Toronto just for a short visit. It's a great city.

i've always loved kit lenses. cheap, light and pretty good optics. makes me think out of the box instead of just saying "oh i wish i had a bigger aperture"

I can't complain either. For $99 you can't go completely wrong.

My favorite shot is probably this one:

emilf, that's a great shot! I have taken countless shots of my two dogs and by now have enough that I should publish my own calender to have on sale at the pet stores and book shops...as long as the buyers like French Bulldogs!

I was using DA18-55 for a year or so as my main lens. These days, it's still my backup wide angle, and serves well as main wide angle for my fiance...
I don't think I'll get rid of it, ever. Of course there are lenses in the same focal range which are sharper, faster.. etc., but they all come with much higher price tag...

I just bought one last week. Been a happy camper with it ever since!

OK so not the best examples out there, but that's the kind of photography I do.

ftpaddict: I really like the colors on that first one.

There's so much you can do with this lens.
