Is it just my imagination or has there really been a slew of us snapping up copies of this lens the past couple weeks?

Congrats on the new baby. It is a wonderful hunk of optics to hold, eh?

Just confirmed that a buddy of mine will be taking my Canon 70-200 F4 L off my hands so that pretty much paves the way for a DA* 50-135 to be headed my way before Christmas!

He he he... you can absolutely blame the two threads currently going on showing amazing pictures take with this lens..

And also, for me at least, I had rented a DA* 16-50 couple weeks ago to work on a wedding, and though I LOVED the lens (it's build quality and IQ), the FL was not right for me... i think 50-135 will suit me better!

I have to head home to get the camera and test this babe!

I gotta agree with you there. Mine was thanks to MS Live Cashback. Got mine for around $500 shipped!

Heh heh! I just jumped on the DA*300 train last night thanks to that MS Live Cashback. The deal seemed too good to pass up.

Where did you get your 50-135?

I took a chance and got it on eBay. The exact price was $530 after the cashback. Just must be patient and wait for it, and NOT buy anything else!

But where on ebay? I found one US shop in Wisconsin (good feedback) that was selling the DA*300. I tried Prodigital2000 but it wasn't eligible for MS Live Cashback, I guess because they're a Canadian company.

BTW, where in Houston are you? I'm in Clearlake. Hope you survived the storm okay.

As soon as I found out that MS Live was doing the Cashback deal (from a random LBA post here) I got on eBay and started searching. If the lens is sold by an individual in the US, then cashback should be available.

I'm pretty sure once people start seeing the Cashback on ebay, they start searching very fast for lenses because I had my eye on a 43ltd + B+W UV for $390 - 30% and in contemplating whether or not to buy it, someone else bought it. It happened again on another lens, but I forget which one.

I am skeptical buying lenses from other people, but the seller turned out to be a good guy and came with a third party warranty so I took the dive.

I am in Sugar Land closer to Alief and the storm did some damages but things are okay now. I was out of power for a little over a week. The office building I work in was also damaged badly (I work in family business) and we had to relocate for upwards of 4 months. Hope you fared well in Clearlake.

To the OP: Sorry for the temporary thread hijack. I promise you'll enjoy the lens as soon as you get a hold of a camera body~! Only a random few shots and I'm already impressed.

How does this work again? I tried a search and the lowest I could find was something like $715 or so after cashback...

I had to get them both, love them both, but unlike you the 16-50 is used more for me as its within my most used F/L, hardly comes of the camera

You will love the 50-135 as its IQ is superior to other zooms and like others have said its like having a few primes in that range.
