Check the Lens Review Database ... it has an average of what people on the forum have paid for their lenses ... this is good guide on what to pay.

If this is in a camera store, that's about the price you are going to pay give or take a few bucks. I think the best bargains are when the lens is attached to the camera, and at yard sales, when you find one in a box of crap.
I got my 135 3.5 for five bucks, great condition, it was in a box of stuff that I rummaged through. It was in it's own leather case and it had a lens hood.
My 50 1.4 I just picked up as part of a setup, it probably worked out at about $20. This also was great condition and it had a lens hood with it's own leather case and room for the rear cap of the lens.

I don' t think there are enough reviews in the database to get a good idea of the average price most lenses are being sold for. As for this deal in particular, I'd say an average of $35 per lens would be a fair price and a pretty good price if they are SMC lenses.

I must be really lucky, I bought my 28 f3.5 on eBay, and it is in MINT condition, not a mark on it, has a MINT original case, and original caps, and I paid $39 for it. ( including shipping ) I have been wanting a 35 also, but they keep going above my price range...

That's pretty much what I paid for the same lens and case/caps too. Mine was $45 and came with a curved ghostless filter too

@Nachodog, it will take longer, but pick a few lenses that you want to start with and watch prices on ebay for 2-3 weeks first. Compare those to the lens review database and you'll get an idea of what to pay for each focal length. e.g. youl'' see buy it now items for > $200 that would usually go for $20-40. Craigslist is hit or miss but worth checking too.

A 28mm, 50mm, 135mm, or 200mm (all very common) shouldn't set you back more than $40-50, and SMC or not and they're great Takumars to start out with.

Got my 28mm for $42 including shipping This lens was absolutely unused. Original caps and case. The case strap was still in its plastic package. Got a 200mm from the same seller in the same condition for $65.

My 35mm 3.5 was $37 w/shipping. Included original caps and case.

These are Ebay items. You just have to be patient and not buy the first one you see.

My "Mint 35/2.0" was a different story. Some sort of crud on the internal elements. But the price was good and seller paid for a trip to Eric Hendrickson.

Well, like literally every other used thing you can buy in this world, price also depends on condition - the prices listed there are about exactly what I can expect to see in our local camera chain, maybe even a bit lower - but they tend to sell mint or near-mint Taks when they have them, usually.

If I'm bothering to buy Taks, I don't mind spending $10-$25 more for like-new stuff - not only are nice taks fun to have on the shelf, they've obviously lived a more cared-for life, and you generally have to worry less about where they've been, how they got those dings, how often were they left in moist or hot conditions, etc.

Id say those prices are fair/ball park... Worrying about saving $10 on a tak? That's a trip to Burger King, come on!
