Pentax 150-450 transport question

Hello all,
I was curious to see what owners of the Pentax 150-450 mm lens carry their Lens in. I tend to keep my Camera attached to my bigger lens semi-permanently so I am interested in transport/protection options for the 150-450 lens attached to a k3 with Grip.

Thanks,
Al

he is a link to user reviews of various back packs, bags and cases

Bags and Cases - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

presonally, I use several different sizes of Lowepro back packs or different brands of messenger style shoulder bags, depending on what I am carrying

Mine travelled to Antarctica and back at the bottom of my Peak Design Everyday Backpack, or attached to my KP.

I bought the Lowepro Flipside 300 specifically for this lens.

How do you plan on carrying? The lens comes with a case, so there's that. Many great backpacks are available, I could recommend a few. As for messenger bags, Think Tank's Retrospective line has a deep (tall) model which could accommodate the lens mounted on camera. Again there are several options available, being more specific will help giving better advice.

Personally, I've always traveled with mine in it's own case (the one that comes with it). My other lenses and bodies go in ThinkTank bags. I traveled this way to Tanzania two years ago with it.

I like this one because of the built in camera support. It is well designed.

I don't have the lens and I don't have the case. But I have seen the ThinkTank Digital Holsters that are made to carry mounted telephotos and they look pretty nice. My largest lens it the DA* 300 and I have thought the holster would be nice for hiking.

This is way to big of a bag for a 150-450, I used it with the Da560 then with my Canon 600 F4. The da560 was to skinny for it, it moved around in the bag and I had to add extra padding the 600 F4 fit well in it.

A 150-450 would require so much added padding to keep it from bouncing all around you would probably be carrying more padding than camera and lens.

Thanks for all replies everyone. Im currently using a lowepro Photo trekker Aw which works well enough. The camera and lens attached fits snugly with the bags padding being so adjustable. The problem is the bag is really big and has so many compartments I tend to fill them with too much gear. Its also an older bag that has an ok harness system but not the best when on long walks.

Most of how I use the camera and lens is for short hikes of several hours. I take alot of wildlife shots and nature pics. I usually have 2 cameras with me and a "few" other lens. The primary goal is Birds.

I will have to have a look at the suggestions. I did consider the lens trekker 600 as I am a lowepro fan and have alot of their bags but I thought it would be too big also...

Thanks,
Al

The flipside 400 looks like it might be what I need... Just big enough to do the job and have a few extra lens compartments. I will have to take a closer look at it.

Thanks Everyone!

If I had to TRANSPORT the 150-450.
A Pelican case of suitable size with pick-foam or one with adjustable Velcro dividers.
I like the Pelican1650 but it gets heavy when loaded up.
