Wow, that is one short DOF...

Taken during a recent ice storm, using a Super-Takumar 50/1.4 wide open, on a ZX-M with T-Max 400 film. The depth of field can't be more than an inch or two, easy to see in such a visually simple image. Also apparent is how much image sharpness suffers at such a wide aperture, although it was a fairly low-light situation and there was of course no SR -- I've gotten used to those sharp images at 1/20 sec on my K100D!

I like the angle. Gives effect of zooming into the shot. Yea thats really narrow DOF. You should see the DOF when you use a reverse macro ring.

You want to see shallow DOF, try a 100/105mm macro at f/2.8mm at maximum magnification :-)
